The Moment I read the title I assumed I knew the story. In my world, the title of the is book explained the typical plight of most black men and I already felt the story would be a familiar one. However 5 pages into my reading I realized this is NOT your typical dough-boy story. Rather it was a journey which encompassed all elements of emotion. There was laughter, excitement, tragedy, darkness, and triumph. Keenan does a great job pulling you into his world and mentally placing the reader in the middle of battle. This book is a "Must-Read."

Excerpt: "He fell to the ground on the curb and leaned over the curb. He had a hole in his neck with blood gushing out like water from a faucet. He patted the ground, “Father, Lord not like this Lord. Not like this. I don’t want to die Lord.” He kept patting the ground. I looked at him helplessly, in shock. I couldn’t think, I was being grabbed. The neighbor across the street came outside and grabbed him, putting her arms around him and cradled him like a baby. He had a look of fear on his face, eyes wide open while begging God to spare his life. She rocked him, saying, “Just accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior."
